Covering the Tiger Moth Wings with Henry Riege: Glueing

Just to make sure, Tom Phinney invited extra pairs of eyes to double check the wings before cover. Vic Prefontaine did an inspection and then Henry Riege followed suit to make sure everything was complete, safetied, and ready for cover. We began covering the lower left wing and then the upper left and right wing as the pitot tubing still hasn't arrived for the lower right wing pitot system.

Priming External Fittings

Rick Riewe priming external fittings and ensuring labels stayed attached to each fitting stored in separate plastic bags and then placed in boxes marked left/right upper/lower wing.

Covering the Tiger Moth Ailerons with Henry Riege

 Henry Riege, recently retired as an AME with about 1/2 a century of experience covering over 100 planes and plane components, agreed to be the lead for the fabric covering portion of the Tiger Moth Restoration!! Thank you Henry!!!

We started with the ailerons, using clamps borrowed from Vic Prefontaine and Gil Bourrier.  

 Rick Riewe  brushed on the first layer of Poly Brush.

Al Tring cut the ribbons positioned over each rib and covered with a layer of poly brush.

Sewing Fabric Blankets - Joyce, Henry & Jill

 Joyce Stoyka helped Rick and Jill cut and sew the first blanket at "Cooks Creek International".

Henry manufactured a bobbin holder that was heavy enough not to move around and thick enough to accommodate the spindle of fabric - clamped to the table...he ought to take out a patent on this really useful holder!

Two 60" wide panels plus one 30" panels cut about 114" long (shorter for the aileron wells) made one wing blanket.
